I just fitted a JVC head unit which was previously in my ZT i use this because i find it convenient to use the USB port for storing music. I know its not the best music medium but sounds quite tinny in the coupe.
Do they still have the cheap speakers form Austin Rover days? I have a similar set up in the ZR and that sounds pretty good

Anyone know what size the rear speakers are and if they are difficult to change
Cheers

Not the best, even though the coupe has quite large rears. A decent £40+ set of 6.25" (16.5/17cm) aftermarket fronts will sound better - look for a low-ish quoted bass response down to 70Hz or better, and two-way ones with the tweeters on stalks in the middle of the woofer will be better too (or sometimes you can find 3-way ones with a midrange unit on the stalk too).
Think the rears are 8", which will cost a bit to replace...
There's an article in the club's magazine (one of the back issues of the Viking) about all this.

Thanks for that.
I've ordered some pioneer ones for front and rear. I had a look at one of the front ones and it was split so that certainly won't help so if the others are like that no wonder it doesn't sound too good
Found something online about removing the rear belts before removing the shelf.
On a side note is there a manual that covers the coupe , I'm working between the haynes R8 , R3 and a factory MGf one which covers the engine

Unfortunately not

no need to move the belts on a coupe to get the shelf out as there are little insert holds for the belt through the shelf.

Is there any bolts for the shelf or just clips?

Under the parcel shelf, the 8” speakers are attached to metal brackets.

Does the shelf have to come out?
