Rover 200 & 400 Owners Club

Greetings,

My name is Leyton and I am 15 years old based in Suffolk. I've been interested in Rovers for as long as I could remember, thanks to my grandad !

Originally starting with a top of the range 75, then onto a top of the range 400, and then ending with a top of the range 45 !
In the last 3 years, I have had a bit of a joint ownership with my grandad of two 75s. After a years abscence from Rovers, my interest in another has only grown ! This time we are searching around for a 400.

This leads me back to the subject of the post. Could I be one of the youngest Rover enthusiasts ?!
Of course there is a difference between being an enthusiast and liking a car, but surely a 12 year old having a 75 registered in their name must be a first !

I would be surprised if there are many other young members of the forum, but I hope my presence on the forum will be welcomed. Always keen to learn more so I do enjoy having a nose around on the forums. My mechanical knowledge is very limited, I think making the car look presentable is my favourite part !

You're probably the youngest 'active' person on the forum but we have had someone younger in a Rover babygrow before

If you're able to get to one or more of the shows we attend as a club next year, it would be great to meet you and help develop your skills further.

The Restoration Show is on at the NEC next March and there's always things to get involved with there

You’re more than welcome - it’s great to have someone of your age interested.

The familial influence seems to be the main reason of younger people “getting into” classic cars and Rovers in particular. I’ve got my 200Vi as my Dad taught me to drive aged 12 in theirs in the 90’s while on holiday in France! (On a big private drive to the gíte they were staying in, I hasten to add!)

Handily, when the time comes for lessons and a licence, Rovers seem quite reasonable to insure, too!

As John says, you’d of course be welcome at an event, and the restoration show is a good opportunity to get involved with doing bits and pieces to one of the cars on the stand.

Now that is impressive !

I’ll certainly do my best. Would love to be able to bring a Rover along with whoever joins me. The last big event we went to was with the last 75 to Roverfest in 2022, scorching hot day !

Have to keep the Rover enthusiasm alive !

I do wonder if I would have come across Rovers if it wasn’t for the family cars, but I am glad I did that’s for sure.

I do hope insurance is reasonable by the time I’m driving, I suppose we shall find out !

That would be great to do that, and also good to see all the cars displayed
