Hi, not long bought a Rover 213S Auto. Its in very good condition, 60k miles. On a learning curve as this is only my 2nd AR product. Had a Montego many moons ago. I bought it because ive had Vauxhall Vivas for over 40 years and needed a change.

Sunroof not working, and could do with some replacement speakers, as the originals work but are a bit buzzy and overload very easily. Radio is a Rover R960 unit, anyone have a No1 button, its missing. Sump plug is just spinning, not leaking, so going to have to change the oil via the dipstick tube for now. Ive done new plugs, oil filter, air filter, cam belt, water pump and tensioner. Got no service history with the car. It needs a new N/S rear wheel cylinder, weeping, and new rear brake shoes. Have got the shoes and hopefully cylinder arrives on Monday. Would like to change the auto box oil as well.

Expect many more questions.

Peter

Lovely car that looks very nice.
My parents had a 213 from 1988 to 1991. They swapped it for a then new 214 Gsi.
Enjoy and good luck.

Hello Peter & welcome to the club!

I hope you enjoy your new car and as you say she looks to be in good nick, probably spent its parked life in a garage I expect. I have seen photo's of examples with extreme rot in the sills and around the rear arches so some underbody cavity protection will be a good idea, once you've got all those niggles sorted!

With the later R8/XW vin number Rovers they shared a production line at Longbridge with the Honda Concerto and all cars were built to Honda's 30 stage body dip specifications.

Hopefully you can attend one or two club events once you have the car sorted. :D

I've had SD3s at both ends of the spectrum, so to speak. A brand new black 216 Sprint in 1988 as a company car, which I kept for almost 3 years and 70,000 miles.

Then in 2004 I acquired a fully roadworthy but unloved silver 213S for a token £50......its long term owner bought a newer car, the dealer was unwilling to take it as a trade-in at any price and the owner could not face taking it to a scrapyard. We ran it for a few months as a 'hack' and then swapped it for a pair of Minis (yes, as recently as 20 years ago it was still possible to pick up a classic Mini for small change!)

I am sure you will enjoy your 213 once you have worked through its list of jobs.
