When driving slowly I get a grinding/clicking sound from the passenger side front wheel.

Dan has had the front wheel off and checked everything, like wheel bearings, etc and couldn't see anything.

Any ideas?

I assume you checked the CV joint as well?

Could be the wheel rubbing on something which wouldn't show up with it off.
Check for witness marks on the wheel itself.

I thought about CV joint as well, it is the same sort of noise, however it only happens when braking lightly and turning right at the same time and is only audible with the window down under 20mph. It makes no difference if I'm using engine braking or coasting so that makes me think it isn't CV related. The boot is fine and it didn't feel notchy last time I had the driveshaft off.
I also suspected the caliper/carrier catching on the wheel somewhere as it has the larger 282mm brakes and the clearance is rather small, however no marks on the wheels that I can find and none n the disc either.

I'm very confused!

As you've moved up to bigger brakes I reckon it's pretty likely the front of the callipers are catching.
I had a similar thing on a Montego I had a few years ago. I put some alloys on it and one of them was just touching at times. I took the corners of the calliper down a bit with a file and it was fine.
It might be touching so slightly that it's not enough to mark the wheel or calliper.

Is the metal brake dust shield rubbing anywhere on the disc?

I'm fairly sure the wheel isn't catching the caliper/carrier anywhere I looked pretty thoroughly and it isn't even distrubing the brakedust which is rapidly turning the wheels black!

The stone shield isn't touching the disc either and it isn't that sort of noise if you know what I mean. That tends to be a scraping tinny noise where this is more of a clunk/notchy feel to it. The only thing I can think of is the wheel bearing but there isn't any play of signs of it getting hot and it only occurs when braking which is usually the opposite of most wheelbearing noises that go away when you touch the brakes.

I'll have another closer look at the wheels again to be sure as that was my first thought when I heard it too.

How about getting the front of the car up on axle stands, start engine, 1st gear, turn right, touch brakes, and see if you can isolate where it's coming from.
You could then get the wheel off and see if it's still there etc.

I had an 825 diesel with a clicky CV joint. It felt fine, but just made a bit of a noise. With a regrease it was fine.
