Before doing the swap, it's worth doing the maths. If I remember correctly, the single large fan actually covers almost big an area as the two small ones.

I can't remember the sizes of the fans but (for example) there is little or no difference between 2 x 9" fans and 1x 12" fan. Two 9" fans cover 125 square inches and a single 12" fan covers 113 square inches. However, once you allow for the blanked area covered by the second fan motor body, that drops to 119 square inches vs 113 square inches.

If the twins are any smaller than 9" then they cover less area than a 12" fan.

Is it going to be worth the effort?
