Broken down again... starting to get a bit fed up with it!

Ruby (1993 214 SLi hatch) broke down again :sad

Went to a job interview in Hinckley, came out & she started OK... but then stalled when I went to drive off. Then I managed to get her started a couple more times, but again she just kept stalling. And when she did start there was an almighty rattle. :cursing

Breakdown chap reckons the cambelt could be a bit loose. Not sure when it was last checked. Or it could be something completely different. I've just had the starter motor replaced and was kind of hoping that would be it for a while.

I dunno. I love that car but with no garage of my own & limited time (and enthusiasm, at the moment!) to spend tinkering, she's now costing me a small fortune in parts & labour. I could be spending the same amount on HP for a newer car that's under warranty... I need to be able to rely on my car to get me to and from work! :headbanging

So it's possible that she'll be up for sale soon. I'd rather she went to an enthusiast - with a bit of TLC she could be a good show car I reckon. That was my plan anyway.

Bah. Sorry to be a grump :rolleyes

hmmm, yeah cars can get you down sometimes. Its probably something simple though. doesn't the fuel pump relay issue cause those sorts of problems? ive read about that being a common fault.

Anyway - chin up :D

have set wheels in motion to move up to a newer car, one that has mod cons and a warranty :wink3

I'll have a tinker with Ruby at the weekend and see if I can get her going - the usual dizzy cap, rotor arm, relays, HT leads, cam belt, spark plugs, ECU checks - BUT I think if I manage to get the newer car, she'll be up for sale on here fairly soon. I think for someone with the time and the knowhow, she'll be great as she's actually in really good nick for her age!

Hey ho. :rolleyes

The soldering on the fuel pump relay often fails. Soldering it yourself is fairly simple, googlesearch 'honda fuel pump relay' and you'll find lots of sites explaining it.

She bought a newer car and the 214 went to a scrapyard :sad

I have the address of the yard if anybody wants to go there: it is near Coventry.

I think Emma has posted on here a couple of times since getting rid of the Rover.
