Wasn't sold with a key fob, however it has a blinking immobiliser light in the dash. This suggests a factory fit alarm/immobiliser, but there is no security code on the Rover Security Card, just the radio code and key number.
Now my question is, when I take the battery off will the immobiliser need a security code before activating the engine?
I never noticed the flashing light when I road tested the car, otherwise I would have questioned the seller regarding this issue, as he claimed that a new battery had recently been fitted. I suspect that something had been stuck over the perspex blocking the red winking led!

I'm not so sure it should have a fob... My '93 SOHC GTi has the alarm light but it sets by locking/unlocking the door with the key.
My old 93 SLi was exactly the same and worked with the key in the door but my 94 SLi had a fob - which never worked!
Edited to add: if it is like mine then you don't need to worry about a code for battery disconnecting/reconnecting.

Hi Pete if its any help I have a 94 cabby which has a infra red key fob with the sensor in the interior light when I was trying to sort mine I was told that that the early models have just a key fob which can be programed the fob is a Valeo mine is a Valeo but infra red they changed to lucas about 95 . I have the ordinary Valeo fob with the bar code number for programing I bought it in error, before I knew mine was infra red. The infra red ones cant be programed if they go wrong you have to buy the sensor kit which which has a fob in it. All the best Graham
