It should be 2E. 5 came in at 96MY.
I've got a list of linked Bosch modulator part numbers somewhere ...

part no on Bosch data base now just says discontinued end of 97only other info is how to test/diagnosis/fault codes and wiring info

Are the tests independent of what they are fitted to John? as in, could a unit be tested from under the bonnet rather than fiddle with the Rover way? I had read in the newer Coupe with that pump installed, they did away with the connector under the seat.

The tests are voltages to the unit, resistance of sensors etc so all manual tests with a multi meter (not using diagnosis) the info was different depending on what system was fitted. Iirc it said from 5.0 diagnosis was via the 16 pin OBD plug rather than blink codes

Ah right, the manual tests seem to be covered in the manual anyway, those are the ones followed, working from voltage to the unit in this case and then onto the relays. Good to know though.

Yeah I would guess there was the same. Normally when we work though the Bosch test plans for a ecu be it a engine, abs etc its says check this pin for live, this one for earth, check K or L line, CAN BUS line etc etc and if they are correct it will just say "internal ecu or pcm fault replace unit and retest"
