Theresa, Marcus and Ruben have done a cracking job on the OS of BUD
Before moving onto the engine bay
The interior, protected by 3 sets of front seat covers, has bushed up nicely too
We have completed the OS driveshaft swap on Cyril but the NS bottom balljoint is being very obstinate. A bigger splitter is coming tomorrow. Matt has kindly donate the old discs from his 420 to go on Cyril in place of the well-lipped ones.
Matt's balljoints are proving problematic so might just be rebuilt as was but at least they'll come apart more easily next time...
We have one more day to do everything else

A few happy faces mid afternoon today (that's before we found that the nearside bottom balljoint really did NOT want to come apart!)
Of course, some passing 'expert' declared that BUD's freshly-polished paintwork would be pink again within 6 months (although it wasn't pink before cleaning and polishing, it was just filthy). Maybe he owns a 1980s/90s red VAG car and is used to that sort of thing
We also had a visitor to the stand who has a rather unusual (even by our standards!) pastime: she breeds woodlice........ She was able to identify many of the insect remnants around BUD's bodywork and I believe John has made a note of the exact species

We'll what a show - we were busy from start-to-finish !
All cars were mobile by the end and we're happy with what we've been able to achieve, even though there were many jobs we didn't tackle.
This is where BUD started Sunday
and this is where he ended
I'm sure you agree that we BUD has 'flowered' - we'll be donating £130 each to the Didcot Community Hospital and the Red Cross as a result of the sale agreed at the show.
Changing both driveshafts on Cyril has cured the ABS problem and we'll be donating £700 to Dementia UK from his sale.
Matt got his 400's front suspension balljoints, timing belt and front discs changed.
Many, many thanks to all who helped out over the show - we couldn't have done it without you

BUD has gone to a workshop in Wigan for assessment and, hopefully, renovation.
See
Recommendations for details of the chap who moved him - JDM Transport.
Expect updates on the initial inspection soon
