Re: East Kirby

The Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre website asks that you e-mail them in advance if you're going as an exhibitor. And I believe the event is organised by the Lincolnshire Rover Club, not the 800 club. It is their website that says cash only on the day. See both organisations' websites for more detail...

Re: Rovers at East Kirkby July 2005

My guess is that it relates to the opening/detachable roof, which would make the SD1 the odd one out (sliding sunroof panel). No, that's not what I had in mind. It's more fundamental than that. It is the SD1 because it was made in Solihull at the ex-Rover plant, whereas, according to my sources htt...

It's an aeroplane.
Or - the Lanc - it's only got three wheels...
Or - the Lanc - it's got more than one engine...
Am I getting close? :laughing2
'fraid not.

No, at least not as far as I know.

A puzzle for you. Of the Lanc, the Tomcat, and the SD1, which is the odd one out?

Re: ARO 'counter factual' article on the Rover/Honda relationship

Ah, that's the level of upper management success in big British business we've come to know and love in the UK. I wish could disagree with you, but so many well-known companies from the 1960s and 1970s are no more, or are shadows of their former selves, or are now subdidiaries of overseas companies...

Re: Battery charger repair mode

An update, for what it's worth! I don't keep the trickle charger permanently connected when not using the car, but do try to make sure that I use it weekly if I haven't driven the car. So far the battery is recharging satisfactorily. So it looks like I did manage to bring the battery back to life wi...

Re: ARO 'counter factual' article on the Rover/Honda relationship

The Allegro looked "strange" because there was almost nothing else that looked like it at the time, one only has to think of the angular looks of the Ford Escort. I'm not saying the Allegro's styling was perfect, but it did its job, and the 1748cc engined models, which were the ones that I...

Re: ARO 'counter factual' article on the Rover/Honda relationship

John, I know. The point that I was making was that if the R3 left the 200 Series designation to become the 100 Series, then the 200 Series could have continued but with the Tomcat and Tracer as the two models in the 200 Series instead of the reality of being kicked out of the 200 Series. That would ...

Re: ARO 'counter factual' article on the Rover/Honda relationship

John, I prefer your "alternative alternative" because it answers the question of what to do with the K Series. Other articles about it on AROnline suggest that it was a serious engine hampered by cost savings forced on Rover by its financial situation. Also as I read it. John Bacchus hints...

Re: New project! 1998 VVC Coupe

What a great find ! White is such an 'in' colour too :laughing2 It's also rare on Tomcats. If I've got my facts right, despite being a solid colour, it was only available from October '92 to October' 93 and again from early '98 to the end of production in July '98, which makes it very rare if origi...
