1.4 k-series bottom pulley problem.

Post by Captainbeaky »

Hello all.

Looking for a quick bit of help.

1992 K series 1.4 16v - with power steering but no air con,
Bottom pulley has come loose, and fretted on the (very soft) cambelt pulley.
Need new pulleys (both cambelt and aux drivebelt).
Cambelt is easy - LHH 100480.

But cant find the drivebelt pulley LHG10007.
Can find the "Air con" pulley LHG10008.

Whats the difference - will the air con one work?

Help..

Thanks,

Mike.

Research shows that the Aircon belt is 5-rib wide, but non-aircon is 4 ribs wide.

As the aircon vs non aircon PAS setup is the same, I think that the only difference is that the aircon pulley will have an extra rib, so I'll have to make sure to keep the belt on the "outside" of the pulley.

does this seem sensible?

Anyone shed any light??

TIA,

Mike

Had the same problem on my early 1990 K-series, the inner rubber damper on the pulley was starting to perish. Like you plan to, I fitted LHG10008 a couple of years ago and it does the job perfectly while only using the alternator part of the pulley.
