I've not experienced it on an R3, but it was a common customer complaint on the Citroen C1 when I was at a Citroen dealership. Ensuring the seal hadn't been flattened/crushed, plus renewing it together with a bead of sealant and ensuring the surrounding bodywork was clean & dry before fitting up...

Thanks Iain. Would that be for them to do the job or for them to supply the material? They’d obviously prefer to do the job as the labour element is where the money is (understandably). Rover R8 D16 Alternator YLE 101730 [E] Finding these new is proving difficult with neither MGLRS or RIMMERS holding stock and EBAY factors supplying the wrong part. It might be worth getting a quote for refurbishing say 10 ? if there is still a auto electrician who would undertake the work in exist...
