Hello with son's help I am trying to get N132LFH back on the road.The problem we had was the usual i.e head gasket.If you start the engine oil positively surges out from under the head so it isn't going to be easy and our joint stock of knowledge/skill is limited.On Friday I am collecting a T series engine from a 400 which had 54,000 miles on the clock when it was broken up.I am hoping to use the head from the 400 because it appears to be in pretty good condition.Have a pukka manual now thanks to the moderator on here but haven't yet found ot where to get 18G1524 cam-gear locking tool or for that matter timing pin 18G 1523.My understanding is that to prevent valve damage and to preserve timing I need to immobilise crankshaft and cam-shafts whilst belt is off.If anyone can offer any advice about potential pit-falls or about finding in particular the timing pin or something that would do instead it would be much appreciated.

Timing pin can be substituted for a 6 or 6.5mm drill bit.
It is also present in some readily available timing pin kits

You really don't need the cam locking tool. You might want to make up something to hold the cam pulley holding tool if you are taking the head apart, but if you are just swapping a head then you'll not need anything special to get the job done. The hardest part is undoing the crank pulley bolt.
The most frustrating bit is all the little fiddly bolts to get the cambelt covers off.

Hi annoying situation today-made a tool with plywood to hold the crank-pulley and popped a 6.5 mill drill bit i the drive plate as suggested by the mod and was gratified when the crank-pulley bolt came out without a fight.However there are four 6 mill bolts locking together the pulley wheel and the timing gear behind it and I have managed to round off the fourth one.The bolt-head is too small for an 8 mill Irwin so spent the morning with a tiny file trying to square off the bolt-head and now we have a very wet electric storm here in Rugby.Its quite an inaccessible place to work-if only the crank gear which the pulley is obviously still bolted to were not behind the timing belt lower cover I think I could have just slid both pulley and gear wheel off the shaft.But it is behind it so I'm getting very wet-zounds.

unlock tools will be a prerequisite for rover ownership so buy a full set, they will pay for themselves in no time.
