Coupe speakers

Post by 216secoupeessex »

Hi guys I need some help as I have read contradicting things on the web.

I have coupe and want to upgrade the speakers - I understand that they are 6.5 and 8" in the rear.
Do I need to remove the rear window to fit new speakers as I understand they are a pig?

Someone has posted just to instal new front speakers and ignore the rears? Dont fancy that but is it best practise?

Thanks

Just need to pull off the rear shelf.

You are correct with the sizes.

It's not difficult to improve on 1980's speaker technology. Even a £35 set of fronts from the likes of Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc. will sound much better and are probably half the weight or less. The paper cones on the original speakers may have rotted through - mine were almost completely gone.

I haven't got a coupe so I've never replaced the rears in one. Spend a bit more on the 8" rears to get a deep enough bass response and you'll be impressed with what you've achieved for not much effort.
