That’s an early K-Series MPI inlet. Later cars (apart from the VVC and 135 engines fitted to the TF) had a plastic version.
Early K-Serie?
My cabby was sold in Paris in August 1994!
I thought lots of former ones had been built from the end of 1992, hadn't they?

much neater to put the belt change details inside the belt cover rather than on show
I totally agree. But as it had been done before my good
skilled mechanic thought he was entitled to follow what we may call a 'tradition'...
Anyway I can reverse that 'ordeal' : cleanse it!
As you may guess date & km are indeed written in the cabby own special service book I'm keeping up-to-date with every single event.

BTW a mate looks surprised my cabby has a metal inlet manifold: which were fitted with metal one and which with plastic one?
I'm puzzled now...
Im not 100% sure but i think the plastic manifolds were introduced after the BMW takeover in 1994.
Also the alloy manifold has the same 56mm TB as the T16 engine (They look the same side by side)

Thank you for that information.
What difference does make a 56mm metal IM compared to a 48mm plastic one (in my missus' daily 25)?
I assume it can add nothing but a bit more responsiveness or oomph... Am I wrong?

The 25 1.4 came in two power levels. The 84PS has a 48mm TB but is restricted by how far it opens. Apart from that one, all the other 1.4 K16 MPI engines are 103PS (Regardless of age) Obviously if you have an 8v engine or single point injection, the power will be less.
