Hello everyone
Hello everyone
Hi all,
I’m lloyd from Cardiff, I don’t know if it’s ok or not but I don’t actually own any rovers any more, I’ve always had a soft spot for them since I was a teenager & my old man got a nightfire red 620gsi, I still remember it sat in the forcourt & it just stood out a mile from everything else, granted it wasn’t parked next to any ferraris but from what we’d always had as kids it felt as good as for us, when I was about 19 I bought a 420gsi executive, I got it from an old fella by me for £400, it was a blue/green colour with grey leather & it was mint, think I was getting pulled every week in it though, the cops just kept saying it looked wrong a group of teenagers rammed in a old mans rover haha but I loved it, eventually the clutch was going & a few other things.
So I sold it to a scrap yard for parts which I really regret now. when I was about 21 I found a Tahiti blue coupe turbo, in the first couple of weeks I took it to a car meet & blew the gearbox up tearing around a car park, I ended up being towed out by corsa with the worst body kit I’ve ever seen, I don’t know what hurt more, I paid £1500 for the car & probably spent double that on it in the first few weeks but I didn’t care at the time I loved it, I ended up selling it to buy a van for work & apparently the engine was taken out & put in an mg zs.
I’m now 37, definitely older & slightly wiser I’m really regretting selling them, I’m thinking about getting another gsi 220/420 or coupe turbo so if anybody is thinking of selling please let me know.
Cheers.
Lloyd

Re: Hello everyone
Glad to have you on board and there is no need to own a Rover to join up her. You just need lots of enthusiasm!
I am sure the right car will come along for you sooner or later; are you looking for a project, or something that's all good and ready to go?

Re: Hello everyone
Thanks, Yep Fingers crossed, it would be nice if one of my old cars was still about, I’ll try dig out the reg’s, but from what I last heard they are long gone, so I don’t think getting one of those back is a possibility now sadly, to be honest the choice on offer seems to be getting smaller & smaller these days so I’m looking at all sorts really, would be nice to get one back on the road though & have something to fix up, I’ll just have to look at everyone’s cars on here for now & dream

Re: Hello everyone
Cheers guys, I looked through some old pictures today & I found a couple of my old turbo & gsi, I’ll try put them up, the regs are on the pics, the coupe was on a plate though, but if anyone saved them & they are still about I’ll give my right arm for one of them back

Re: Hello everyone
A 420 GSi Executive is a very rare car indeed. I’ve only ever seen three. One has been for sale recently but isn’t the best, another is owned by a club member, and the other I saw online but has since been scrapped.
Current:
2018 Volvo V40 Cross Country
Former:
214 SEi x4, 216 SLi, 216 Cabriolet, 416 GSi, 420 GSi Tourer, 25, 45, 75

Re: Hello everyone
Yeah looking back i wish I kept it now
don’t think I’ll find another one now, it’s crazy how so many cars that used to be a regular sight seem to be gone in a blink of an eye. I been trying to see if any are still out there, I found my coupe turbo was put back on its original plate L252wmr, it’s had no mot or tax for a long time but apparently not scrapped so could just be sat in a field somewhere
