Hi, I have a MG ZR 2004 model vehicle. I read what you shared on the MG rover forum page. I live in Turkey. My problem is that the doors don't open with the round remote. Lights that should have flashed during locking are not flashing. control locks the doors. The doors do not open with the remote control. In the images you shared, I replaced the central locking, that is, the locking and unlocking relay in the pectron box, with a new one, but there was no solution. hangs and won't open. I'm pretty sure the remote works. When I open the driver's door with the key, the alarm goes off and when I press the unlock button on the remote control, the red light on the instrument screen goes out. silence. the car is running. but the doors won't open. When I press the control button, there is no⁷ response like the door opening sound. I removed the driver's door and disabled the lock. The other three doors and the trunk are locked by the remote. The doors were not opened with the remote again. I checked the engine compartment and driver compartment fuses. no problem.
alarm shuts off using the remote, remote is fine
all doors will lock using the remote, but will not unlock,
replacing the lock/unlock relay in the Pectron unit didn't work
·There is no service network for this car in my country. I need help. My English is not very good, sorry for typos kind regards. Selcuk
MG ZR central locking
Re: MG ZR central locking
Hi Selcuk,
That's no fun to have your car acting in this way. Hopefully we'll have an expert along shortly who can help you.
My first thought are...
Can any of the doors be unlocked manually from the inside via either the interior handle or the door-casing top plunger? Do ZRs still have these?
Is something physical stopping the CDL motor from unlocking but allowing locking? Are they getting power when the unlock signal is given, they must be getting it for locking?

Re: MG ZR central locking
My first step would be as John says, to probe the driver’s central door locking motor connector at the motor with a multimeter to see if power is reaching it when the unlock button is pressed.
That will then isolate whether it’s a motor specific problem, or wiring/the Pektron ECU (despite you replacing the relay, I still reckon it could be something to do with this-worth searching for Technozen electronics, an expert on these based in Brighton, UK, who does a mail order service).

Re: MG ZR central locking
Well, I have had exactly the same problem with both our 2005 ZR and 2005 Streetwise.
But sending the Pektron SCU from both cars to Technozen in Brighton has cured the problem. Removing the unit from the Streetwise was no fun at all, as the car has aircon and access to the SCU is very tight (I have the cuts and grazes to prove it). The ZR is easy by comparison, without aircon, I am able to get the SCU out in a matter of minutes. I have also modified the bracket so that the SCU now hangs 'upside down' which reduces the risk of water running down the wiring and entering the SCU.

Hi, How was the repair done in your car, is the problem roller,
Re: MG ZR central locking
I have a spare central lock. I replaced the driver door lock with it. The problem is not resolved but I did not measure the connections. yes i should check that out. I changed the same role 3 times. you know there are two coils in the relay. one side opens the doors, the other closes. It's very unlikely that the same side of the 3 central locking relays I replaced is faulty. In addition, even if the doors are locked, the fog and headlights, which should flash 3 times during locking, do not flash. When I remove the battery and start the battery again, the interior opening latch of the 4 locked doors opens automatically. The doors do not open with the unlock button of the remote control. but when I open the locked door with the key, sometimes the alarm goes off, sometimes it doesn't. When I press the key on the remote control, the red light on the display turns off, the car starts. very strange situation.
Re: MG ZR central locking
Also, when I lift the inner latch while the doors are locked, the doors do not open when all the doors should be opened.
