Was wondering if you could help with an issue on my mum 214 R8. From cold, when you turn the ignition on, the temperature gauge goes straight to top as far as it will go and stays there. The car is running fine, the engine does not over heat and there are no coolant issues. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Cheers

I suggest you check the plug and clean the contacts, check for breaks in wire but if you have to, changing the sender aint a big job if i can do it any body can.
JUST because i love cars doesnt mean i know anything about them.
IIRC the temp guage sender (sensor) is the blue one at the front of the engine closest to the rad. The ECU temp sensor is the brown one half hidden under the dizzy.
