Autobox fluid.

Post by PeterTyler57 »

I have an 89 213S Auto. Would like to change the fluid in the box. I have no history with the car so have no idea when it was last done, or even if its been done. Whats the recomended fluid thats available?
Method of removing speaker grills with out breaking the plastic so I can change the rattly and buzzing speackers? It is fitted with an R960 radio, the No1 button has fell off sometime, any one got one, or a complete radio?

Much thanks.

Didn't see you get a reply to this question. Have you had a look at the technical documents for SD3 in the Members Area. The complete WSM is there which includes the auto box. If you look through the intro and general section (RD0152.pdf) towards the end they list the recommended lubricants. For the auto box they recommend Dexron 11D, which was probably the main one around in the mid 1980s. They also list the products from various manufacturers. I expect you could safely use modern Dex111, but investigate equivalents to the original products listed.
