NEC Classic Motor Show 2025

Post by SammyJx »

The club will have a stand at the NEC Classic Show this year and they have announced this year’s Classic Motor Show theme: Best of Both Worlds.

As usual we are on the hunt for your Rover's to be displayed on our stand!

The dates are 7th - 9th November 2025.

The car would need to be delivered to the NEC some time on the prior Thursday, and collected on the Sunday evening. You’ve of course have a complimentary guest ticket to the show.

We’re not looking for particular colours or specifications, just ideally in as good a condition as possible.

Ideas to help with NEC's show theme this year are as follows:

Old Meets New
Classic cars restored with modern engineering could be the centrepiece of this concept. Imagine vintage designs paired with cutting-edge technology—an iconic muscle car outfitted with an electric engine or a retro dashboard enhanced with modern touch-screen functionality.

Performance Meets Practicality
Showcase vehicles that balance power and everyday usability. A supercharged saloon that maintains its family-friendly comfort or an SUV that offers unparalleled off-road capabilities while delivering sleek urban performance.

Original Meets Modified
Celebrate individuality and creativity. Vehicles that stay true to their factory roots but have been subtly or dramatically modified—whether it’s engine upgrades, custom paint jobs, or body enhancements—could capture the essence of blending tradition with innovation.

Luxury Meets Affordability
Embrace vehicles that redefine luxury for the everyday driver. Models that combine premium features within an affordable package, or cars that offer craftsmanship and exclusivity without an exorbitant price tag.

Form Meets Function
Cars that are visually stunning yet highly utilitarian. From rugged trucks with impeccable design aesthetics to sports cars that offer surprising versatility, this angle emphasises the duality of beauty and practicality.

Conceptual Meets Real
Vehicles that were once conceptual marvels, designed to challenge conventions, and have since been transformed into tangible masterpieces can be celebrated. Whether it’s a futuristic design that became a bestseller or a one-off prototype now cherished by collectors, this aspect brings imagination to life.

Please drop a reply below with any car offerings, or even offers to help on the stand, it's a busy weekend and a great event to attend and help with!

The club have also been given a discount code to share with members, which grants a discount on the purchase of admission tickets to the show. The code is - CCCNOV5512, which needs to be entered at checkout when purchasing using the link below.

We are pleased to be back at the show this year and displaying a selection of the cars that our club encompasses.

This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Rover 200 MK 3 (R3) and the Rover 400 MK 2 (HH/R). For the first time in a generation Rover were launching cars that were replacing models that had both been successful in the market place and had gained a enviable reputation.

The HH/R Rover 400 would be the final car to be built in collaboration with Honda, a link that had achieved so much in the previous 16 years but now BMW were in charge following their purchase of Rover the previous year.

The R3 Rover 200 had been developed with very little input from Honda and was largely Rover’s own work. These two cars formed two of the three elements of the “Portfolio” projects all launched in 1995, the third being the MGF.

On the stand this weekend we have a Rover 420 GSDi Executive saloon in Platinum Silver. This would have been the top specification available in 1999. This particular car was rescued from a car compound for a nominal sum back in 2017 and has been restored by the current owner culminating in a re-spray this year.

The Rover 25 2.0D GSi in Sonic Blue is a one owner car and continues to be used daily. With a build date of 25th February 2005, but not registered until September 2006 it is one of the very last cars built before the demise of MG Rover.

Finally, the Flame Red Rover 214SLi represents one of the high points in Rover’s modern history. The R8 200 went on to sell almost a million cars and was regularly one of the UK’s top selling cars in the early 1990s. This particular car was kept by the first owner until 2022 before being purchased by its current owner who has fettled it with the help of club members who have brought it up to the standard you see today.
