hi all i have just bought a rover am very pleased with it . was running it up to check that the fan was working and noticed it has only one fan on the drivers side and a space for one on the passenger side The question is should there be a fan on this side or not it has air conditioning if this makes a difference And just one thing i ave heard rumours that they pop the head gaskets quite often how true is this if the car is well looked after thanks

What engine doe you have in your 400? The K series is reliable as long as you check the fluid levels every now and again, fixing leaks as soon as possible and make sure that it is serviced every year.
If it is a 414, then it should only have a single cooling fan if I recall.
