my new gsi

Post by deej027 »

Ok picked this up Saturday night, got it for free due to the timing belt snapped and no keys.

So ripped the barrel off and towed it home.
Took the cylinder head off (after compression test)
Vavles and cylinders had no contact (got lucky I guess)
So put engine back together and ordered a cambelt
Pulled dents out of rear passenger door
And polished the rocker cover

Wee update:

I have fitted a striaght tho exhaust on it, only has one silencer and 3" bore right thro (made from a 740 exhaust) and a 4" tip on the end (even better when no cat)
should free up some horses and sound nice, I still need to work out the ign as it has no ign barrel only the black box that the wires go into. I need to know how to wire a switch to switch the ignitoin on and another for a starter switch.
had a look under it for the first time my luck is up big time, The entire car underneath and in the arches is waxoiled and I have not one bit of rust underneath the car, this car only needs one bit of welding, the rest is surface rust.

Am hoping to have the cam belt tomorrow morning, so should get that fixed. Waiting on a mate dropping off his angle grinder as mine caught fire as I powered it up.

My deadline is the 15th of August as I have a car show on at 10am

Hopefully I should have the car at least rolling if not road legal
Anymore info is very helpful to me

Thanks Daniel.
