ok i have no power and now have blue/ white smoke on start up , is this a sign of a goosed turbo

Check the intercooler pipes for splits. If they split the turbo can't produce any boost and so you get poor performance. Also try removing the air inlet pipe and feel for play and roughness in the turbo shaft. It should turn fairly freely by poking it with a finger (not with the engine running of course!)

If there is lots of side to side play (more than a couple of mm), and there is a lot of oil in the turbo or the pipes that lead from it, then the turbo might be suspect. Also check to see if there is pressure in the coolant or oil as the headgaskets aren't known to be the strongest in the world.
