A few weeks beforehand I'd picked up a 216 Coupe for the small sum of £150 and after getting that running, was all set to give the 420 its well earned rest.

The Coupe has been my workhorse for 3 months now and while it's been a fantastic and enjoyable car, I couldn't help hankering after more power. A look on eBay and Pistonheads for 820 Vitesses and 620Ti's showed me that cheap examples were getting harder to come by. I wasn't looking for another new car and was quite happy to carry on using the Coupe as my daily.
A friend of mine sent me a text message a few weeks later letting me know of a 420 Turbo rolling shell that was going to be available for not a lot of money. The shell would keep its Koni suspension and Powerflow exhaust, but the forged engine was being removed to go into another car. As the car was only the other side of town I went over to have a look, keeping a clear head as to whether I *needed* to buy it.
The shell turned out to be in very very good condition, the arches being the most impressive part for an L reg car! Not a spot of rust! After having a good look at the car and a talk to the owner (and getting a ribbing on Rovertech for slating people who break 420 T's) I decided to go for it.
Fast forward to today. Having sourced an engine and the majority of parts and having sold bits off the Coupe to cover the cost of the parts, I went and picked the car up.

(Ignore the lack of headlights, they're in the boot)

As it stands I've spent a little more than I initially wanted, but when I come to sell the Coupe I'll quite easily break even.
Just waiting on a new cambelt and some other bits and bobs for the engine, which I'm hoping to put into the car next weekend.
