Interior Footwell Lights

Post by Wilko »

Went for a little jolly up to the scrappy today and I pinched some interior lights from a metro, wired them up and i was well chuffed, just bridged the wires from the inside of the windscreen pillar, wiring was as follows

purple wire to purple wire on metro light
purple & red to purple and white on metro lights

job done!

Footwell lights were standard fit on early Rover 800s - they're a nice touch.

Cheers, it was well easy to do to be honest. My best mate has got a 1996 range rover and thats where i got the idea from.

Makes a huge difference at night as well, just want to fit an mgf mirror now!

Footwell lights are a very nice mod. I installed mine near the footwell air duct. I made a crude assembley that fits inbetween the duct and the bulkhead.

The MGF mirror is a good mod too , it really does improve the interior lighting. Whilst you are at it you could install a 'submarine light' / ambient light. To do this just take the mirror appart and drill a 5mm hole to let an LED poke through, link it up to the lighting circuit ( fag lighter illumination ) . I used a red LED and it gives the cabin a nice warm glow at night. One LED is suffcient , otherwise you will look like late night Amsterdam.
