Do you mean bonnet lifters?
You can probably modify a set from a rover 800 or make something from the universal sets that are sold on e-bay etc.

Yes lifters are the same. I will check e-bay and check out the 800.

I'm sure I've read somewhere (might be on .org) that mk3 Astra boot gas struts can be modded to fit the bonnet ot the R8. Don't hold me to that tho!
