The difference in the rims is down to the fact that the front tyres as fitted when I bought him were below the legal minimum of tread. Fortunately a kind scouser gave me a set off a Rover 400 with 2 good tyres of the correct rolling radius, so I fitted them to see him through the MOT. They should last out the year at which time I'll get a full matching set and have them fitted to his original rims which are in better condition than the ones I was given.
As the fronts are 14" and the rears 15" it wouldn't be safe or legal to have the same rims on each side.
As for the ride height I don't know why he's so high, but I think it probably explains why he seems so 'jiggly' even over fairly smooth road surfaces. At first I put it down to an extension of the usual 'scuttle shake' which plagues a lot of ragtops, but I detect no obvious rattles or vibration in the dash area as you would normally expect in these cases.
