AGM-27th October Gaydon - Committee members needed
Re: AGM-14th October Gaydon - Committee members needed
Hi there, I am a newby, just joined member with a 1990 216 GTi. Posting some pictures of it soon.
Early days for me , but I am happy to help. I do like writing and photography so I may be useful to you for the publishing/newlsetter role.
I will try and make the AGM, perhaps discuss it then.

AGM - Committee Position of Editor
Yes, that's fine, I am planning to be there on the 14th for the AGM and will step up for the Editor role, or maybe others want this spot too! In which case we can have a mini-election.
Little bit of background on me:
By profession I am an aerospace engineer, first with the RAF and then 18 years with Rolls-Royce (Aero-Engines HQ Derby). While in the Design Engineering function at R-R we spent considerable time alongside Rover's engineers at the Warwick Manufacturing Group. This was in 1992-94, during the Rover/Honda alliance. Always impressed with what I saw and heard; so little wonder that I bought a nearly new Rover 216 GTi soon after. And Rolls-Royce picked up many great business improvement ideas during that period; and later hired many ex-Rover people.
Nowadays semi-retired, I do some training, and I am also a UK photographic judge for camera club competitions. I have a well equipped home office with most of the software needed to produce a publication like The Viking, and I am passionate about the Rover 200/400 marque; which represents a historical turning point in British manufacturing history, and also a turning point in vehicle technology (post-1990's most cars became PCs with 4 wheels!).
So count me in. I am fully paid up and now have a membership card, but have not changed colour yet
Cheers

Interesting story - looking forward to meeting you at Gaydon but don't come on the 14th, as that was last year's date - come on the 27th !
Thank you for providing something positive about the BAE ownership of Rover Group. It was hand-to-mouth during that period, waiting for the next parcel of RG land to be sold off to fund the next phase of a programme. And of course they sold us as soon as the 5 years was up.
But I'm not bitter.....

I have split the topic and made a new thread to avoid any confusion on dates. We wouldn't want people turning up at the wrong time.
Rover 220 GTi Turbo.

Been at the Heritage centre today and can confirm that our booking is in their calendar - Syndicate Room 2, which is booked from Noon 'till 4pm.
Is this the time we intend to start ?
Of potential interest is that the Large Model Aircraft Show is on at the same time - see http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/ ... jh-sbNwa70
