Rover "MINK" Leather Repair

Post by g259fsg »

I wonder if anyone has a piece of Mink leather from a disused seat? The driver's seat on our 1990 214 GSi is now showing signs of wear on the bolster where you get into the car. Perhaps not surprising after nearly 35 years and all that time it's been our everyday car, mostly for short journeys, so it's been brushed against thousands of times.

Here are a couple of pics of the area

and the bolster

I'm looking for a piece of leather to repair this. Has anyone tried repairing these seats. Looks like you might need to strip back the cover from the back of the seat but I'm not sure how easy that would be.

Thanks for any tips.
