What are the symptoms of a blown head gasket on the K series engine?

Usually oil and water mixing or sometimes water getting into the cylinders.
Sometimes the water leaks out from the head joint too (usually over the alternator sometimes damaging it).

In short there are lots of ways to kill a K series headgasket

Excess steam from exhaust. poor starting ( but can also be caused by leaking inlet manifold gasket if not modified) Bubbles in the header tank when running. just to name a couple more
