Not a Mk2 Query, but does anyone know what type of whhel nuts are needed for these type of alloys? Does anyone have a set and a set of locking nuts?
Thanks
dont use the steel wheel nuts as there to small. any rover alloy wheel nuts should do the job but use can also use after market alloy wheel nuts. you can get them from ebay for about £10 a set of 16. and again any after market locking wheel nuts will do.
If they are off of the later rovers with a 4x100mm pcd then they use the same nuts as the R8's.
60 degree taper washer. Can't remember the thread size or pitch but if you look up suitable nuts in a locking wheel catalogue that often gives the details

Someone pointed me in the direction of these in the Rimmerbros site, 11 being for steel and 12 for alloy wheels. If you scroll down & look at the picture there doesnt appear to be any taper washer.
I know catalogue pics arent always a true indication of the part, but the picture of the steel nuts looks the same as what I have fitted to my (current) steels.
Yeah thats per nut! I currently have some Montego/Maestro alloy wheel nuts holding the back 2 (alloy) wheels on, which look to be the correct taper but a bit tall/long and therefore sit proud of the wheel face (so look 5hite) . Thanks for the link, I'll measure the Monty ones then may buy some of that guy. I wonder why they did away with the taper "floating" washer, cost I expect
i remember having to by 6 montego nuts with the floating washers from the dealers about 10 years ago and they were about a fiver then, i managed to find the rest trawling the scrap yard floor. wasnt going to buy all new ones, would of cost more than the alloys were worth. the nuts in the link are a tiny bit taller than the rover nuts so may stick out a tad but i would put up with it for the cost.
I got mine from Grayston as they are a very common fitment. Same as the maestro/montego ones.
They may have done away with the floating washer, but that was there to protect the wheel really. So long as the taper and thread are the same then any will do.
Fatdave wrote:those will do the job but is that the price each if so i wouldnt bother. i have some of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/16-x-ALLOY-WHEEL- ... 4aa63402ed on my 414 with genuine rover alloy wheels and there spot on.
I checked the info on the link against the Montego nuts I have fitted and they are the same overall length 35mm . I will have to email some suppliers asking if they do a shorter version.
