So as you can see needs respray really really bad laquer peel pink not red :*laughs*: couple rust spots on bottom drivers door and scabs on all four corners and dent in drivers rear quarter panel above window

Spoiler snapped :? Not sure how that's happened my thinking is slammed our pulled spoiler to close boot

My other thing is battery was dead so had to get one from work put it on alarm started blasting and no crank ( immobiliser) so put it to position two and connected battery started first go quite as, not even a knock :o my question is that didnt come with fob what's my options

Starts but can here fuel pump whining making noise as it idles

Loads paper work all mots from the 90s had private plate at one point cam belt done and other bits at ford dealer ship were it was parked up interiors clean no rips etc

Your thoughts gents
Bit of update went to blackpool today for the wife keep her sweet

When got back I thought might as well have 1 or 2 hours on gti so jacked her up and put her on stands wd all bolts and nuts which hold the straps together for the tank this is we're I wished I'd had bought some ratchet spanners :annoy: any way nuts came off and they didnt even snap so I will use them again but new nuts
Image

Then I started on the pipe work there is piece of plastic that covers the pipes near the passenger quarter I noticed this
Image

I'm not sure if it snapped as the tank moved abit brittle pipe or it was snapped before I started but il sort it
Image
Can see the red pipe were it snapped
Image
Tank out bit petrol still seeing flowers and bunny rabbits :*laughs*:

Image
Image
Bit paint and rust but doesn't seem to bad no leeks

Decided empty tank  filled 4 canisters neighbour was well pleased when I gave him two and 4 bottles and 2 Bowles run out off containers :*laughs*:
Image
Image
Under car were the tank was not that bad no rust
Image

Right quick question couldn't see fuel pump any were so I'm presuming its in the tank probaly made a tit of my self here but I'm sure I've ordered in line pump am I wrong call me all you want here :*laughs*: but make sure it's right

Oh and I found full blue samco kit in boot as well as 3 filters and loads paint

Ok took pump out of tank and found this

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Swirl pot
Image
Inside tank

Got question how does this come out is it rotated and there's a lug do I push it forward so it can be turned
Image
Image

Look what posty brought me
Image
Image
Image
Image
New piping for the one which snapped and going to replace the rest on the tank be rude not to
Image

Quick question do these tanks have some kind odd leek off pipe coming off tank which isn't connected to nothing
Well posty brought walbro fuel pump today of grant fast as on postage thanx grant

Image

So gave tank few coats of stone chip excuse the spraying first time :*laughs*:
Didn't really want go to close to holes and pipes so left were you see
:x couldn't believe it when you think you have some masking tape and the wife's used it for the house (painting)
Image
Image

So I will give it couple of more coats tomoz I've asked Andy to give us hand fitting pump modifying wise

Ok had spare 1 hour last night so plumed tank in and fitted tank bit fiddley but sorted change fuel filter tonite

Made new pipes as I went along

Pics bit dodge
When I got it moted il take to friends who has a ramp and lay on the stonechip
Image

Finished work today was boared so I dropped water on gti and fitted blue samco kit there was hose missing but I will sort it out then I took of header bottle and cleaned it as best as I could

New anti freeze

Oh and I found stainless bolt kit so il fit them tomoz if I get board *laughs*

Image
Image
Image

Have to do timing belt on Monday on zafira so kill to birds with one on antifreeze *laughs*

Oh noticed that I'm missing this part any one got one nocking around pretty please
Image
The little bracket that holds inlet manifold

Well. Thought the mechanicals were sorted thought wrong :x
Went in garage this morning to this
Image
You can see the antifreeze on the front subframe looked at the hoses not a leek
And the bottom drivers corner on rad see evidence on coolant problem is after being stood for a while then getting up to pressure something had to give :*laughs*:
Image

Two steps forward 5 backwards *laughs*
Well had spare hour after work so stripped part of front engine bay then rad came out can't see any holes etc is there a way to test if I have a leak

Image

Image

Well not really done anything to the gti as I'm waiting for my new Alloy radiator so I started battery to boot as you can see moved original cables for the battery and earthed the gearbox with new earth cable sorry about pics
Image
The I cut the power cable that connects to the fuse box and added a distribution block
Image
As you can see used original cable to starter but seeing that I had bit of 0 gauge cable left I might use that to the starter so the two wires underneath and 1 either side so I ran it throughout
The car down the passenger side to the boot
Image
As you can see used 0 gauge earth wire which is connected to the top of the shock I also added 150 amp anl fuse to the power cable but forgot to take pic :x
Image
I used the original tray till my stainless battery tray turns up also used gold plated terminals which came from china :*laughs*: didn't realise

Right moved on to sandwich plate used for oil pressure gauge here's what I picked
Image
So this what it looks in the real
Image
Ignore the pressure switch didn't use as space was tight and as dan(Cableguy) said you can take original out of oil pump and use it there or get adapter kit
So which filter should I use due to me making it even closer to floor :*laughs*: so I asked and was greeted with L series filter as you will see in a moment thanx to dan,Greg, pete etc
So here's the filter for turbo engine
Image
And L series
Image
Side by side
Image
See the differnce :*laughs*:
Image
So here's it fitted to the adaptor plate
Image
Image
Image
Test fitted
So I used new pressure switch on the adaptor and used plummets tape on all the bolts and switch
Image
Image

Image
Then I fitted :o didn't have bigger enough socket or spanner so had to use adjustable :*laughs*:
Image
Used 8 gauge wire from the switch to inside the car as you will see later
Image
So I then ran 8 gauge wire from the switch to in side the car for the gauge as you will see late
]

So I moved onto my gauges
So bought some gauges of amazon
Oil pressure
Volt
Boost
Water not fitted yet next job :*laughs*:

I then bought plate to hold gauges
Image
As you see gauges fitted had to remove the vents and the center bit to leave the opening pain the back side then relised the plate which I bought of ebay fit straight through :x
So had to use and modifie the panel on the heater controls jobs a gooden
Image
Craig supplied me with new one
Image
Then the gauges would slip through the holes :x so used the panel of ebay and it worked
Image
So tried them in car
Image
Car in bits
Image
Back of gauges
Image
Image
Image
Hey presto bit bright if I'm honest oh boost gauge to be fitted tomoz even thoe got garage still bloody freezing :*laughs*:
Hopefully button everything up and hopefully rads here at £180 better be bob on :*laughs*:

Well not done much really fitted forge dump valve then hit my first snag the air pipe won't fit now due the gap between the dump valve and out let for the air filter pipe iirc you have to nouch bit out so I ordered this here's pic
Image
And I ordered this for the throttle body ready for my fmic kit

Image
And bought this for the cam cover breather for now
Image
Oh and just ordered this for my boost gauge were the tray is under the ashtray so I can cut the shape out bit over kill but will do the job
Image

Not sure what happened there

Early present *laughs*

Not an mot failure then that's a positive. Something that can be sorted prior to Pol.

Found this

For the purposes of an MOT inspection, your car windscreen is divided into two main areas. The most important for the purposes of an inspection is the area directly in front of the driver, a 290mm wide column from the top of the windscreen wiper's arch to the bottom of the windscreen itself, and centred on the steering wheel. While it's technically possible to repair damage up to 40mm in diameter, some repair companies will only repair damage up to 10mm in diameter if it is located in this zone. Damage larger than 10mm within this zone will result in an MOT failure, as will damage with a diameter of more than 40mm anywhere else on your windscreen. Significant scratching or discolouration that reduces the driver's visibility will also cause your car to fail its MOT. Even if damage such as cracks or chips are structurally minor, if it is shallow or minute or if it has a diameter of more than 10mm in the driver zone, your car will fail.
