214 Cabriolet (Story so far)

Post by Chance »

Hi all, i recently bought a 214 cabriolet that had sat for 6years.

It still starts, drives, stops etc just needed tidying up, new roof, soaking wet inside, rear arches need doing, front wing. Thats roughly everything.

Here are some pictures of where i am at the moment.

When i first got it

Fitted power roof, all this has is central locking and PAS.

All removed and drying

Thats where im up to, ive got a set of ash grey leather coupe seats for it, thinking about dying my doorcards a darker grey.

This is my daily rover atm too.

Bet the neighbours' curtains were twitching when that first turned up!

Impressive commitment.

Nice work.

What parts are you struggling to find? Got quite a few cabriolet spares in my garage...

Blimey, that's a job and a half!

I'm sure you find some help with parts on this forum.

It's an unfortunate fact that these are still being broken so keep your eyes on ebay.
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos

Well not after anything in particular actually, its just things like repair panels, interior bits, trim pieces.

That comment came from It taking me ages to find an interior for it, and i guess i was spoilt with my classic mini because i can get anything i could ever need brand new. Also the metro, theres a lot more spares that come up frequently.

Ill bear it in mind though. I used your cabriolet website to help me with the roof wiring. Big help.

I think I have everything I need now, Im going to try and use some of the old front wing to repair the worst rear arch. Seems to be alot more 'put together' than my metro, thats for sure.

This is still ongoing...rear arch repairs are done..not the neatest job but better than what was there..im still learning.

Cleaned..dried and refitted all original interior.

Got all major service items ready to fit..and new backbox. Need new discs and pads too and tyres.

Probably already spent more than its worth but its not about that really..just saving another rover.
Maybe vvc in future? I deffo want to VVC my metro
