Cabby Rear Screen replacement

Post by Destiny »

Firstly, my rear screen has cracked right across and is it possible to replace just that section ? If this is possible, where can i get one from ?

Does anyone have technical information on how this is done please ? mainly getting to the screws along the bottom.

Many Thanks

There's a guy I use in Hereford who does that sort of work, currently doing my headlinings but he did mention that he does convertible rear windows. He's away on holiday at the moment, but defo worth waiting for, Keith Williams 01432-342110

IIRC they unzip so you could remove it and take it too or post it to someone to fit a new rear section.

They do unzip but you need to remove the side flaps & there is a metal bar that holds the base of the screeen down, often these bars are very rusty!

I hold the club's hard copy work shop manual's so I will look the relevant pages up for you. I can photo copy and post if you wish, but you will need to reimburse my cost's.

:)
Thank you for that offer

I have been to see Keith Williams in Hereford and we are going for a new complete roof..... ok, its expensive but will be a proper job that fits and is good quality. Also the car is low millage and in good condition, so it is worth doing :D

Please can you tell me what the bar across the back that holds the screen down is called, the one that inevitably rusts as i need to try find one or will have to have one fabricated ?

Many thanks

I replaced the plastic in ours. Just required a little patience and a robust needle and thread

Sorry I must have forgotten to bookmark this. :slapme

Just having aquick look in the manual there is a item 'outer cover' [28] that holds the rear of the hood to the rear most part of the frame at the bottom. That is a strip with studs that most go through the hood and through the frame bar with a nut type fixing of some sort.
