You could also try Demon Tweeks, it's where I got a K&N filter for mine. They have it in stock and listed at £40.79 inc VAT, so a similar price to that quoted by Jonny 216GSi

Is your car the 416 with Honda engine and auto gearbox?

It's K&N part code 33-2647 as per this link:

https://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/prod ... od=33-2647

The K&N applications list shows its for all 416 autos from '96 to '99 according to this link:

https://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/appl ... od=33-2647

The photo on Demon Tweaks appears to be the same as the one K&N are showing. And you say this doesn't fit your car?

Not sure what the problem is now :S

Indeed.

It'll be this one:

https://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/prod ... od=33-2647

K&N part code 33-2647

Clicking on the applications list confirms it fits all the 416 auto cars from 96 to 99.

Even though the engine changed from a Honda D16Y3 to a D16B2 sometime in 1997, they must not have changed the air box.

Google "K&N 33-2647" to find the best price - but K&N's own price (link above) at a shade over £40 seems reasonable.
This kink will take to part number 33-2647. So you check spec. It states this filter outer width of 105mm, I am sure my filter is at double this..

It could be that they haven't remembered that the engine has changed to a D16B2 in 1997 and the air boxes are in fact different.

Looking at Rimmer Bros on this page:

https://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID012559

It is part PHE100390 or PHE100390P (pattern part to same specification) and these are the ones for all 416 autos from 1996 to 1999, regardless of engine type.

They are indeed much larger than the one K&N think fits. These surely look identical to the one you've seen in your car. You can't argue with Rimmer Bros. They generally get things spot on.

There are loads of cheap paper ones on Ebay. Just use the search term "rover 416 auto air filter"

I can't seem to find the K&N one though.

Err, no :blushing. I was just using Johnny 216GSi's reply for a possible part number, to give another option for purchasing :oops. I shall retire gracefully to the shadows and return to lurking :D
