Rover 214 SEI 16V Guide price up and running? (Now with pics)

Post by CJW200 »

HI Guys

I am going to restore the above car for my mum as its been sat in her garage for ten years.

It has an all leather interior, I was wondering how much these go for once road worthy, I think it needs a new battery and tyres at the very least.

Going to take it to a garage soon after its been recovered.

Thanks in advance for any replies, might sell parts off it for her if its not economical repair.

Cheers

214 SEis come up for sale on eBay quite regularly; the most recent one had about 60,000 miles on the clock and good service history.
It was let down by some paint lacquer peeling on the roof and a few other areas.

Final bid was around £500.

Don't do it for money, do it for love :angel

Most more modern cars aren't as much fun as a good SEi. Many aren't as reliable or cheap to run either and you might well be able to insure it on a classic car policy too!

And any car will need a battery and tyres from time-to-time....

Look at the prices of 195/50R15s as they are usually significantly lower than the OE fit 185/55s and are direct replacements.
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos

No, *do* recommission it. These are great cars and I particularly like the SEi. You will really enjoy using it.

Where in the UK are you?

Good clean examples will sell, either on Ebay or Car & Classic for example if you're happy to wait for a buyer.

A SEI with a full leather interior is a rarity and all else being equal will attract a premium.

The one being discussed earlier has turned up on Ebay numerous times which imo has helped to depress the price.

A BRG example in showroom condition, one owner with 23k miles on the clock found a genuine buyer at £1500 earlier this year. I saw it and drove it!

They don’t sell on eBay, you just get dreamers and time wasters.
