New Here

Post by wyldwych »

Hi all,

Well, we did it... we bought ourselves a Mk2 216 SLi!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
So, now we have to join the club...
so we have.

I'm Sheena, Steve is my husband and we like cars. In fact we went to the Classic Car show on Saturday
and Steve said that he quite fancied owning a Rover... so we went and got ourselves one.

We don't just like cars, we like motorbikes too... watching strange videos on You Tube and walking our whippet.
We also have a penchant for good food, real ale and socialising.. oh and we play in a band called Wicklow Gap
(Steve plays drums and I sing).

So, we're interested in showing off our new toy and meeting up with some of you... we're based in Stoke on Trent too... if anyone is from around here.
Looking forward to catching up with some of you soon :D :D :D

Hi, and welcome to the club!

I saw your car on the FB - it’s lovely and looks like a great find!

We are a friendly club and we all love our cars. Some of us have been here for years, and the R8 is a car that really gets under your skin!

I am sure you will enjoy the car, and any advice or help you need, just give us a shout and someone will be along to help.

Look forward to seeing you at a show next year, in the R8’s 30th anniversary year!

Hi Paul...

Yes.. that car was on Facebook and was just down the road from us (we're in Stoke on Trent)… so we just had to go and have a look at it.

The engine is solid and purrs along nicely... roars when red lined and shifts some. Its immaculate inside and looks like it just came out of the showroom..
the only glitch is the bubbling laquer on the bonnet and the odd bubbling rust spot.

We're looking forward to taking it out for a few meets now...

I have previously driven an 800 series, which I would suggest is like sitting on a sofa while motoring... lovely car, until the engine management unit failed.
Steve has had 400s previously... and just fancied a 200 series.

You're getting (back) into R8s at an interesting time :D

If you can master it, using Flickr is a good way to post photos which we'd all like to see, I'm sure
I like Twin Cams, Single Cams, Turbos and 5-cam VVCs :cool
