The BRM Cosmos are a unique offset (38mm?) but there was a version fitted to the HH/R 400 that had the same offset as other HH/R wheels (45mm?).

They look the same and you won't really see the offset difference on the car. You probably won't feel to much handling difference, except on a BRM.

You just need to make sure you know which ones you're buying and that they're all the same. The offset is cast in the inside face and will look something like 'ET45'.

The rarer BRM ones are likely to be more expensive than the HH/R ones...

Thanks for the explanation there, John: I always wondered what the difference between genuine BRM wheels and the HH/R Cosmos wheels is!

So would I be correct in thinking that fitting a set of the genuine BRM wheels to an R8 would stop the tyres fouling the inner wings on full lock? (As that is the problem I have with my HH/R Cosmos wheels on my GSi-T)

I'm not sure tbh.

The offset change was to increase the track, with the intention of increasing front-end grip, so there will be a commensurate change in the position of the tyre on full lock. Whether that's enough, I don't know...

If the BRM has a standard steering rack is the giveaway. If it has then the wheels are probably enough.

Anybody know if the BRM has less turns lock-to-lock? ( A standard R3 (and R8s with PAS) have 3.4 turns)
