RoverRevival wrote: Mon Sep 07, 2020 7:54 pm Just spent hours hunting for a plastic part to no avail, so I gave up and called a friend of mine who 3D scanned the good one and just printed me one :scared

Total cost was 1/4 the advertised price and took all of 15 mins start to finish.

So yep, you guessed it!

It’s on our shopping list.

Going to be getting quotes from a company tomorrow who will be sort out a reasonable sized printer and matching it to a suitable scanner.

Here’s hoping it doesn’t break the bank.
That’ll be awesome if it’s possible!

Well that was a very expensive day but I can now confirm RoverRevival is now in proud possession of our first 3D printer.

To say we looked at hundreds would not be an understatement and was originally recommended by ye olde sales rep to just get the small one.

But you know that’s not our style is it?

So what did we end up with?

For the nerdy type who love every detail it’s a Creality cr10s 500. Yep, you guessed it 500mm3, which is the biggest one they did. I also put a back order in for a 3D scanner as well.

Now to workout how to use the damn thing now and getting a few test prints out we should soon be ready for 24/7 production of all those lovely impossible to find clips.

Pics will follow when I work out how to assemble it.

If anyone has any files ready to go I’ll happily use them as test prints.
I can also do plastic (pla) or abs with this printer as well so that plastic bits that get hot can also be sorted.

Heres’s to the future.

We now have the 3D scanner on its way as well now.

If anyone wants to get a collection of hard to find clips or pretty much anything plastic that is no bigger that 45cm3 and we can start getting these things reproduced.

For those wondering what I mean by expansion plans :cool

Light green is the current RR
Dark green is the expansion
Red is additional parking (you know, just in case).
