hi all i have a 1993 rover cabriolet and are having some problems with the radio it turns itself off when the wipers are on intermitent and when the doors are opened also i have had to disconect the electric areil as this also turns off the radio and the interior light has stopped working

Weird electrical gremlins indeed! I'd check the earth to the slam panel and also the other earths that you can find.

yeah very weird ive also noticed the clock on the dash doesnt hold the time it resets when the ignition is turned off

Is the radio an after market unit? If so try disconnecting it and checking the two fuses for hte radio power supply in the fusebox. If one is blown then chances are the radio needs the power and memory wire swapping over (many units have this reveresed for some reason!)

i would say check and redo all the earth connections and then see how you get on, or check the head unit wiring, is it standard with the iso connector or has someone has a field day with connectors and insulation tape
