Hello everyone, my name is Martin and I’m from God’s own county (nr Harrogate). I’m a die hard Rover fan and have been since childhood. So far I’ve owned a 45, a 75, a 100 and 2 800s. I’ve also owned the odd Jag here and there (including a rather luscious XJ40), I once even owned a Cadillac (which was equal quantities of absolutely awful and brilliant).

I’m currently in the market for a nice R8; it’s a very significant car in Rover’s history as well as being one of the best cars (in my opinion) of it’s size and generation. It was also a very significant car of my childhood; we had several Rovers between the mid 90s and early 00s (including an R8). I will post a wanted ad in the wanted section; although if anyone is interested here in what I’m looking for or think they might have just the car for sale or wanting to sell please do let me know and I’ll gladly tell you what I’m after.

Hopefully when I’ve found the car for me, I’ll share my adventure with you all on here. If anyone is interested I’ll even post pictures of my previous wacky misadventures with old cars. Trust me, I have plenty of stories to tell!

I look forward to getting know you all and if I can be I’ll try to be as useful to the forum as I possibly can be. I am also eagerly awaiting finding the right R8.

I have many fond memories of my grandfather’s R8 (my mum used to drive it a lot since she didn’t have a car of her own; I therefore spent a lot of time in it as a youngster). It’s a shame I wasn’t of an age to persuade them to keep it. It was what is now a very rare example; an M reg 214i 3 door. I haven’t seen a late i spec 3 door in years. It was one of many Rovers we owned during that period.

I’m eagerly anticipating getting my own example, I’m certainly in the right company on here!

Thank you very much Topcat Tomcat! It is a search I am very much looking forward to undertaking. Trust me, I have plenty of amusing stories concerning my many and various misadventures! If nothing else they’re pretty comical (usually at least, haha).
