I recently got quotes on both (purely out of interest, I can't afford either) and found that the Escort was a whopping £1800 cheaper to insure than a Sapphire.Ozz wrote:*laughs* erm - Ive just been quoted £400 for a sapphy full comp (looking at getting one) and an Escort is more than double that for a poorer level of coveradam wrote:Miles I should think. Escort Cossies are cheaper to insure than Sapphires due to the enthusiast nature of their buyers.
Maybe it's down to area etc... I live in a dodgy one so the Sapphire'd probably be a more obvious choice to steal around here as they stand out a bit less.
Insurance is almost imposible to predict, it can vary wildley from person to person.
I do own an escort as well, though I will be selling it sometime soon. It is the 1.8 si, and I have to admit it is loads of fun to drive. It is a bit chav'y, but then I am seeing more and more "chav'y" people driving rover 200's and coupes now, probably because the prices are quite low, and the coupes look cool
.
From personal experience, I would say the Escort feels more fun, where as the Rover feels more serious.
I still think the coupe looks nicer though
