5000rpm idle :o

Is the throttle stuck open?

Mechanically it could be the cable or the butterfly sticking. You can operate it by hand under the bonnet or get someone to press the pedal while you look and feel what happening.

If it's 'electronic', performing a throttle position sensor (TPS) reset might be a good idea. To do that:

1) key to Position 2
2) press throttle pedal fully down 5 (or is it 10?) times
3) listen for some 'whizzy' noises under the bonnet
4) ignition key back to 0
5) start car normally

Can somebody confirm if I've got this right pls ? :laughing2

The O.P need to tell us the build order, plastic or ally inlet manifold, because the throttle valve assembly is different. Also the E.C.U has differing part numbers.
