Failed on emissions

Post by carpy »

As in the title, 216 cabby with the k series engine. Any thoughts, these are the fail points, bloke in the garage reckons it's the cat but obviously don't want it changed if that isn't the cause.

Fast Idle Test

CO %vol max limit 0.300 actual value 1.172

Lambda min limit 0.950 max limit 1.090 actual value 1.166

Second Fast Idle Test

CO %vol max limit 0.300 actual value 1.619

Many thanks

Is the lambda value switching or is it stagnent. It should cycle between ~0.2 to 0.8v once or twice a second if the engine is operating in closed loop control (which it needs to be to pass the emissions test).

Also check the lambda sensor heater relay is working properly too.

Is it warming up properly? If not then it'll not pass the test.

Thanks ETV, as the car was tested when I wasn't there I can't say if the lambda values were switching and also I haven't a clue where the lambda sensor heater relay is or how to check it :blushing
