Re: MOT advice for a new member/owner
As to repairng the fan. The Fan speed resistor pack will have burnt a couple out. If you have a soldering iron its an easy job to replace them with 10W ceramic resistors. 3 resistors on the pack as the fan on full speed gets the full 12V, 2 will have gone on your pack. You can see a burnt out resist...

Re: 1999 414 8V Head Gasket
Thank you for the quick reply. As always the forum doesn't let you down. I fear my earlier optimism has faded in the cold light of day and your obvious experience and know how has me thinking there is a lot more to this job than i previously thought. I did some reading last night and as you stated t...

1999 414 8V Head Gasket
It is with deep sorrow I post that after 131,000 my 400's head gasket has finally spewed it. Driving home from my daughters ( only a couple of miles) I noticed steam coming out of bonnet ,a short distance from my front door thankfully. Car boiled over and now pumps freshly added water straight out o...

Re: 414 Heater control valve
Think I have the answer to my heater problem. About 18 months ago my 400 was losing water and because of its age, condition and milage ( 135,000 now) I took the cheap option and added K-seal. Car has ran great since with heater working fine but i think the additive has finally bit me in the ar*e. Val...

Re: 414 Heater control valve
Thank you for the rapid reply 961tat . I will take the valve out and have a look tomorrow weather permitting and try a hose pipe through it. Might end up just leaving it out over the winter months and join the hoses up. After a bit more research since posting I tracked the offending valve down at Ri...

414 Heater control valve
Heater has stopped working in my 1999 414. Fan and controls are all ok and the cable pushes/pulls the valve leaver when selecting temp settings in the car.The matrix inlet hose is hot upto the valve just before the bulkhead but is cool after the valve. So this is my next port of call in the process ...
