You can definitely rule out 'carburettor', as no Rover 45s were ever made with a carburettor. (Unless a previous owner has done a strange modification to fit a carburettor from an older Metro or Rover 214!) What colour is the smoke coming from the exhaust? Or is it from another part of the engine? ...

Does anyone know a good honest Rover mechanic or garage in Maidstone Kent area? My Dad's Rover 45 51 plate seems to have some sort of electrical problem. The engine revs dangerously fast and sometimes there is smoke. I would appreciate any ideas or advice.
