The breakdown guys checked for spark at the coil, and also the No1 HT lead, good spark at both. They then disconnected the fuel hose from the inlet manifold, and turned the engine to check the pump, which was fine and fuel was flowing. The starter motor is turning OK, I hear a soft clunk as I turn o...

Engine Cut Out and wont restart.

Hi, unfortunately tonight my engine cut out in the pouring rain on the way home. I had a quick loss of power, then normality, then total power loss in the middle of a busy roundabout on a dual carriageway :sad I called out the RAC, who checked for sparks and fuel to the engine, which were both fine....

Half Leather Seats

Im looking to replace my 214Si cloth seats with the half leathers. I know the Sei/Gsi have them, but am having a problem finding any.

Will the 400 seats fit in, and would the rears fold down?

what about bubbles, will their seats fit straight into a wedge?

Thanks

As my 214 is my first car, I have been learning various tasks such as oil changes etc alongside my family. We did the front discs and pads over the summer. If you have a Haynes manual and a couple of hours you should have no problems. As for the brake spreader, a g-clamp will retract the piston just...

Sounds familiar. My 214's alternator went last winter. I had heard a squeaking for a couple of weeks, turns out the bearing had gone inside. When the RAC came to jump start we found the alternator was running red hot and burning itself out inside. Was £76 inc VAT fitted at a local auto electrics pla...

My alternator went end of last year, I paid £76 IIRC inc VAT. That doesn't sound too bad - was that including the fitting at the garage or did you do it yourself? Yeah that was an all up price at an auto electric place, which luckily happened to be round the corner from work. If you can get a repla...

My 16V MPI with plastic manifold definately has the 2 hoses, small one to ECU, and the big one to the canister as has been said.

Was your plastic manifold off an SPI, or just missing a hose? :)
