Rover 45 V6. SOLD it XKR still for sale

I've got to a point that the hassle of old and classic cars has been a nuisance that has outweighed the joys of ownership. My past Rovers were a disaster really, but this one really promised. Top spec and one obsessed owner, meant this 2001 was in very good condition. Despite that, 8 months later it...

Re: Diagnostic correct: NEED steering pump

I ordered a steering pump from our friends at Rimmer Bros. The first one had a leak (not just 'sweating'), and the second one arrived in a worse condition. So, they fitted the first one. Other non-OE options were very expensive. I reckon that these 'new' replacements had been sitting on a shelf for ...

Re: What gearbox maintenance does a 2001 45 V6 require?

The 45 V6 was only available as an auto. I am not aware that a KV6 was ever mated to a PG1 gearbox? The 75 used a Getrag gearbox which is nothing like as slick to use as a PG1 but at least it doesn't whine like a PG1 when it has done high mileages. It would seem that the gearbox is the same as the ...

What gearbox maintenance does a 2001 45 V6 require?

I've done just over 60,000 miles. Is there any maintenance that the gearbox requires?

Thanks

Re: Diagnostic correct: NEED steering pump

Do I need to order anything else? Thanks :) :) A quantity of the correct power steering fluid, as a it would be worth 'refreshing' what you've got in there. If you have access underneath the car you could drain it from the bottom rack connection too but disposing of the old stuff in the reservoir w...

Hi, No. I searched for the part on their site and a 'steering pump' wasn't available.
Should i drop them a line anyway.

Just seen that the product on ebay in my message is for the later model.

Diagnostic correct: NEED steering pump

You guys are amazing. Once again, a correct diagnosis. I need a steering pump and 'kit' I suppose. It's the 2001 Rover 45 V6. I've been looking on internet and think I've found the part. I'd really appreciate some help in choosing the right part. Is this correct? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROVER-45-...

Re: Now she's whining and moaning

Auxiliary drive belt? Power steering pump? The sound is definitely coming from the engine and may also sound like a vacuum cleaner or something squeaking. Not good anyway. Got an appointment for a mechanic to take a look at it tomorrow. BUT, will I need a garage with an engine fault reader to be ab...
